Bookworm Sez – July Associate Member of the Month...

“Mumpsy Goes to Kindergarten.” That’s the first book I recall loving to the point of wanting to read daily. It was a Mary-Had-a-Little-Lamb-ish tale of a kitten that followed its young mistress to school one day (it was against the rules) and I can still remember rubbing its flocked cover all those years ago. It was a cheap (probably 15¢) Rand McNally kids book and it was undoubtedly the best money my mother ever spent. The point is that I’ve always been a Bookworm and for as long as I can remember, in every home I’ve occupied, there’s been a shelf (or more) filled with books just a few steps away. I now live with two spoiled Lhasa...

SiteSwan – June Featured Associate Member...

Click, Click, Ca-Ching! That’s the sound of thousands of websites being designed, launched, and sold to small businesses right now by forward-thinking publishers all across the country using SiteSwan. Every small business needs a website. But only 48% of them have one. And of those who do have a website, many are in desperate need of a new one. So we’re talking 70-80% of all small businesses as potential clients. That’s where the “Ca-Ching” comes in. As a publisher, you already have all the key assets you need to successfully sell websites using SiteSwan. You have salespeople to sell them, graphics people to build them (although anyone can, really), a billing system so you can get paid, and...

Little Fish Big Ocean – June Featured Associate Member...

It’s 8am, Monday morning … you walk in the door, coffee in hand, ready to start your day. Your Sales Manager is sick today. There’s a note on your desk from your Production Manager. A full-page ad never made it in the issue and a 1/2 page pick-up never got updated. And to top off your morning, the lady that does your billing emailed you that $3,000 was never invoiced last issue because she didn’t get the info from Sales. While you’re probably cringing right now and vowing that it will never happen to you, it can and unfortunately does. The good news is that it can be prevented with a good organizational system in place. This where...

Cooler Ads – February Featured Associate Member...

Tools to Help You Sell More Print Ads.. Guaranteed! By Joe Nicastro, CoolerAds CoolerAds goes back to 1996 when an advertiser of my paper had asked me to drop off a copy of his ads he ran in October (this was August) because he was leaving for Florida and wanted to get his copy in before he left. I forgot to bring them with me when I saw him for his weekly ad copy. He made a comment to me saying ” Can’t you just put my ads online so I can print them myself and give you the changes? That got me thinking and being the web was still in its infancy I never gave it much...

William (Bill) E. Mitten, Founder and Chairman of the Board of The Windsor Press, began his business from the basement in his home, where in 1958 they started The Hamburg (PA) Shopping Guide.
